Resilience instead of risk
Two significant events prompted the administration of the southern Hessian town of Rödermark to make a decisive shift towards the cloud: a cyberattack on a neighboring municipality and flooding in the Ahr Valley made it abundantly clear how vulnerable locally bound IT structures are. This wake-up call led to a project with a signal effect. The city decided to migrate its administrative IT to a highly available, scalable, and certified cloud infrastructure – GDPR-compliant and certified according to BSI C5 and ISO 27001, among others. The goal was not only to better withstand crises, but also to noticeably simplify everyday work. Automatic updates instead of manual maintenance, flexible resources, and location- and device-independent access created the conditions for true digital resilience.

Exemplary administrative digitization from A to Z
The North Rhine-Westphalian city of Geldern has been relying on paperless workflows for over a decade, thereby sustainably accelerating and optimizing its financial processes. However, the municipality did not become a pioneer in digital administration on its own. In cooperation with Axians Infoma, a comprehensive digitization of processes took place step by step, putting Geldern in an ideal position to meet the challenges of the future.
