The business model of FRITZ & MACZIOL GmbH, founded by Heribert Fritz and Eberhard Macziol in 1987 was revolutionary in its time: offering hardware, software and services from a single source. One year later, this model led to the launch of affiliate company INFOMA Software Consulting GmbH. Also on board: Manufacturing partner IBM with its new AS/400 computer series and the city of Neu-Ulm, which was already using similar software for local government administration at the time. The concept involved marketing for mid-sized and large IBM computers and user software for local governments. The joint project was launched in fall of 1988.
The interest in the INFOMA local government series continues to grow. The fall of the Berlin wall proves another major and historic opportunity for the young team. Over the next three years, the company adds around 130 customers from both East and West Germany.
With the cost and results accounting solution INFOMA Control, developed on the new Navision platform, the company offers its first product focused on the new governance model. Just two years later, INFOMA confronts an ongoing discussion on “colorful screens” and the introduction of double-entry bookkeeping with newsystem local government, an integrated complete solution for local government financial accounting. The city of Passau serves as its initial pilot customer starting in 1999.
Two Managing Directors, Eberhard Macziol and Oliver Couvigny, now lead the company. After starting as a Consultant in 1997, Oliver Couvigny took on a variety of positions at INFOMA and was appointed as an authorized representative in 2002 before being named Managing Director in 2005.
INFOMA acts to expand its local government business in Switzerland by acquiring Swiss Information Technology & Trust AG (IT&T AG). With its products and personnel focused on finances and accountancy, IT&T AG offers the ideal platform for expanding and optimizing the company's solutions there.
To fulfill local government requirements related to topics beyond financial accounting, INFOMA expands its product portfolio, first by adding integrated enforcement and facility management processes, then Business Intelligence (BI), a document management system, and the consult local government business area. After acquiring FM-Tools from infas enermetric, INFOMA is not only a market leader in local government facility management, but also expands its client base to over 1,000 customers.
After over 26 years, Eberhard Macziol, co-founder of FRITZ & MACZIOL Software und Computervertrieb GmbH and INFOMA Software Consulting GmbH, leaves general management by mutual consent. His work was foundational to the successful corporate development of the FRITZ & MACZIOL group, and specifically to the success of INFOMA as well.
The new version of newsystem 7 with Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013 as its basic technology initiates a new era in everyday work processes, supporting administration on its path towards innovative, sustainable, and economical local government. With a needs-based, customizable interface design, a transparent and informative reporting system, and full networking capabilities with other departmental processes and Office applications, the new version offers a wide range of new performance features to optimize administrative processes.
Daniel Riss joins INFOMA management on September 9th 2014 as a second Managing Director. After starting with the company as a Consultant in 2001, he took over as business area Manager of consulting in 2008 and was appointed as an authorized representative in 2009. By taking this step, INFOMA continues to pursue its goal of more intensive dialog with clients, partners, and stakeholders, allowing the company to optimally overcome the issues and challenges of the future.
After approval by the European anti-trust authorities, INFOMA officially becomes part of VINCI Energies Germany, greatly expanding the company's spectrum of IT services. VINCI espouses a basic principle of decentralized management and independence for all companies in the group, ensuring INFOMA can continue on the path it's chosen under the new partnership, further pursuing its corporate strategy and continuing to write its own success story.
By founding the new Axians Infoma GmbH in Klagenfurt, the company consciously positions itself as a partner platform. The company's goal is to use its presence on site to implement a comprehensive, highly integrated, and modern solution landscape for the boroughs as a local partner, while also creating synergies with regional companies. Providing the best possible on-site service and comprehensive support for boroughs from local staff with excellent expertise will lead to broad acceptance in Kärnten and other Austrian states.
By joining VINCI Energies, INFOMA becomes part of the Axians family brand, and all group ICT activities worldwide are consolidated under that name. In 2017, INFOMA becomes “Axians Infoma.” We also adapt our logo and web presence to match the new change. For our customers, partners, and the public, this represents the transformation of an image they've trusted for many years.
