Needs-based and clearly structured – how our BI can reduce daily workloads

The city of Goslar, with its picturesque, narrow streets and squares perfect for strolling, relaxing, shopping, and meeting up with friends, is nestled among the northwestern foothills of the Harz in Lower Saxony.

A walk through the historic city center, which has been named a UNESCO world heritage site, gives visitors a taste of Goslar’s unique atmosphere, shaped by a blend of tradition, history, and modern life.

In the city of Goslar, incoming and outgoing payments from/to a GmbH, an in-house operation, and an optimized city-run enterprise all flow through the core budget checking account. These amounts, which were not to be attributed to the core budget, were accrued in the chart of accounts through separate accounts for each company in the liability area. These accounts each have a recognition and derecognition account. Therefore, in order to determine the cash balance of the core budget, in the past treasurers had to use a separate Excel table, which was transferred to the audit office each evening with the current daily closing statements.

Thanks to a modern and flexible BI solution by Axians Infoma, this time-consuming manual work with Excel tables is now a thing of the past. The solution presents all three accruals and the core budget separately and clearly, on an automatic and daily basis. The automated evaluation of account balances, including all accruals, saves time and work each day and brings the city another step forwards toward modern, future-oriented administration.
